Students Abigail Hovorka ’26 and Eric Johnson ’25 recently traveled to Anaheim, CA for the 2025 American Physical Society Global Summit of Physics, combining the March Meeting and the April Meeting! It was amazing! Here are some perspectives from Abby and Eric!

On top of all the other awesome things in the exhibit hall (cool vendors, research posters, career and grad fairs, the APS shop, vintage arcade games, even puppies!), there was a fun photo booth! I had to get a picture in this California-inspired Global Physics Summit postcard!

My first ever poster session! Such an amazing experience that I will always remember! Here, I was explaining my research to a fellow undergrad student from Stanford.

The APS Global Summit was a great experience, while initially overwhelming, there was so much cool information I learned about, from how to brew the perfect coffee to new developments in medical physics to introductory quantum gravity. I presented my research, the Development of MRI-Readable Biomimetic Gel Dosimeters, which started as a summer research fellowship and turned into my IS this past year. I received lots of feedback and learned a lot while presenting. Overall, it was a very positive experience and something I would recommend to anyone at any point in their academic/research journey.

Amidst all the exciting chaos of the conference, we all managed to take a group photo by the APS sign in the exhibit hall!
